We owned three mattresses
two desks and chairs
a brick and board bookcase
a ten dollar refrigerator
some big homemade pillows
which we scattered on the floor
and, of course, the old stereo.Three cylinders, our found sculpture,
stood seven feet tall
stacked up in the dining room
and doubled as our Christmas tree.
We spent a lot of time in that room
listening to records and drinking wine.
It was there friends gathered
for spaghetti dinner on the floor,
and sing alongs. We learned some good songs that year.
