On April 15, 2006, Chicago's Marc Smith, creator of the Poetry Slam, performed his poetry at Unity Temple in Oak Park, IL. for their 3rd Saturday Coffeehouse program. Smith continues to host and perform every Sunday night to standing room crowds at the Green Mill Coctail Lounge at 4802 N. Broadway Ave., Chicago, IL. In addition to narrating the book/CD anthology "Spoken Word Revolution" and co-authoring "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Slam Poetry", he has staged many creative poetry events for the public including The Neutral Turf Poetry Festival at Navy Pier, Slam Dunk Poetry Day at Chicago's Field Museum and The Summer Solstice Poetry Show at Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art. His collection of poems "Crowdpleaser" and his CD, "It's About Time" are available at his website, www.slampapi.com. His populist poetry combined with his dynamic performance style keep him busy with readings around the country and the world.
